Beautiful, high quality wood flooring,
from environmentally and socially responsible forest sources.
Our factory is located near century old tree plantations grown for their natural latex sap. The small plantations are owned and maintained by more 6,000 local tree farmers. After 25 years the trees have grown to full maturity and must be replaced. These harvested trees are used by our flooring factory for the hardwood core material. This efficient and sustainable process supports the local economy and protects the environment.
Our flooring products meet or exceed the 2010 California Air Resource Board (CARB II) requirements, the most stringent emissions standard in the world.
Additionally, we provide independent, third party certification that our flooring is produced entirely of legally and environmentally friendly harvested timber. |

Look inside
Great Northern Hardwood Flooring features
a stong 3-ply cross-grain construction. This design resists shrinkage,
expansion and warping from seasonal changes. A hardwood core enhances
stability. See larger image. |
| |
 |
Easy, secure installation
Our Premier-Click system joins
the planks without the fuss of glue or nails. When you hear that click,
you’ll
know your
floor is tight
and secure. |
| |
 |
Sandable thickness
Even a 3/4" solid wood floor (felt) can only be sanded
to the depth of the nail or tongue. The depth of 5/8" Great Northern’s
(right) surface layer is comparable to solid wood and can be sanded up
to three times. |
| |
Not all top layers are created equal
The way hardwood logs are cut to create the top layer is key to flooring
quality.
|
 |
| Great Northern’s logs are sawn — exactly
like solid hardwood flooring — resulting in the highest quality
surface with the best-looking grain patterns. |
Logs can be rotary-cut, sliced-cut, or sawn. Many
floors are rotary-cut, resulting in the unattractive look of plywood
graining. The wood fibers break as the veneer is peeled. Over time,
the weakened fibers may crack and cause surface checking. |
